Revamping Your Toilet Paper Roll Crafts: Fun and Easy Projects for Kids

Lately, I’ve been immersing myself in delightful craft activities with my daughter, cherishing those priceless moments when her face lights up with joy. This week, we embarked on a mission to repurpose seemingly mundane objects into captivating crafts. With a few spare toilet paper rolls at our disposal, we ventured into the realm of toilet paper roll crafts, discovering two perfect projects for the Spring season.

Toilet Paper Roll Crafts: Budget-Friendly Creativity

As a firm believer in budget-friendly endeavors, I often source my crafting supplies from the local Dollar Tree. This time, I took it a step further and repurposed toilet paper rolls that were destined for the bin. Together, my daughter and I transformed trash into treasures, crafting two adorable Spring-themed creations on a super thrifty budget.

Not only are these crafts incredibly fun and easy to make, but they also aid in developing your child’s dexterity through playful engagement. Supervised scissor work enhances hand-eye coordination, and simple crafts like these have the power to unlock your child’s creative potential.

Craft 1: Toilet Paper Roll Butterfly

Our first venture was creating a charming butterfly using a toilet paper roll. Apart from the roll itself, everything else was sourced from Dollar Tree’s craft section – an absolute money-saving haven!

Supplies:

  • Toilet Paper Roll
  • Construction Paper (2 sheets)
  • Glue
  • Googly Eyes
  • Pipe Cleaner (2)
  • Tissue Paper Squares (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Begin by wrapping a piece of construction paper around the toilet paper roll. While you can trim it to size, we prefer a taller look. Once glued in place, allow it to dry while you move on to cutting out the wings.
  2. Freehand butterfly wings on another construction paper, inviting your little one to cut them out. Once cut, feel free to decorate them as you wish. My daughter opted for gluing tissue paper squares, but you can explore drawing, glitter, or other creative ideas. Finally, glue the wings onto the body.
  3. It’s time to add the final touches! Glue on the googly eyes and create antennae using pipe cleaners. Attach the antennae to the inside of the roll. Voila! Your beautiful Spring butterfly is complete.

Craft 2: Toilet Paper Roll Flower

Next on our crafting journey was an even simpler project – a lovely flower that requires only three supplies.

Supplies:

  • Construction Paper
  • Glue

Instructions:

  1. Wrap a green piece of construction paper around the toilet paper roll, cutting it to match the size and securing it with glue. Utilize any excess paper to create leaves for your flower. Encourage your child to glue the leaves in place.
  2. Draw and cut out a flower shape from the construction paper. Glue it onto the roll, completing your charming flower craft.
