How to Treat Yourself with the Care you Deserve

No matter how busy they are or how many responsibilities you have can think of; every woman needs to find the time to devote to herself. This is not a selfish philosophy of life. This is a fundamental aspect of a rewarding life that allows you to realize that you matter. If you do not take any time out for yourself, you risk becoming over-stressed and even reaching burnout. Burnout is not good for anyone concerned, especially you and your children. Finding ways to practice self-care is essential to avoid these worst-case scenarios and increase your happiness and well-being. So, let’s look at a few ways to give yourself the care you deserve.

Minimalist Philosophy

Finding time can be extremely difficult. You may have to try to hold down a full-time job, have a house to run, look after your children, and try to maintain a social life. However, developing a minimalist approach to life may help you in this respect. Minimalism is about freeing yourself up, reducing attachments, and eliminating the excess things that hold you back and stress you out. It is about finding the best way to focus on what is important, relevant, and now.

One of the easiest ways to begin a life that holds this doctrine to the heart is to declutter your living spaces. Physical objects can hold power over you. Then can create emotions and prevent you from moving on in your life meaningfully. Not only that, but an overabundance of objects can promote stress and anxiety. This means that it is in your best interest to declutter your living spaces. The more you can remove, the better you will feel. You will have more space in your home. The air can circulate more easily. There is less junk. Junk creates breeding grounds for dust to accumulate, molds, and other nasties to grow.

This is not ideal for young children either. Decluttering is good for the mind, the body, and the soul, and when you start feeling the positive psychological effects, you will be happier. Once you have decluttered your home, then you can get to grips with other forms of minimalism. Think about stopping those afternoon coffees with that toxic friend. How about stepping back from that social circle that does nothing but bring you down. Stopping doing those favors you always do for others. Once you start cutting things from your life that are preventing you from living your best life, you will have more time to spend the way you should be.

Treat Yourself

One of the best things you can do for yourself is to treat yourself every now and again. As long as you treat yourself responsibly, there is no reason why you can have that Chapman Ford, a new handbag, or wardrobe, or go to that spa. Giving yourself little gifts is essential to your well-being. It lets you know that you are a person and worth it.

Lots of women like to buy unique purses and handbags that reflect their style and personality. You can even find customizable purses to help you really stand out from the crowd with a unique accessory that will last you for many years. So go ahead, treat yourself every now and again – your mental health will thank you.

Don’t become a slave to your responsibilities. Become the master of them. The more you control things, the better you will feel and the happier you will become as well. Your whole family will be all the better off for it too.

Get Better Sleep

If you are not getting at least seven hours of sleep every night, you will be harming your body. The mind and body need this amount of sleep to repair damage from the day, record long-term memories, reduce toxins, and perform a lot of other essential jobs. The fact is, not sleeping will cause you to suffer from many things, including more stress, bad memory, obesity, heart disease, diabetes, etc. There is a long list of negatives associated with lack of sleep. If you genuinely have a sleeping disorder and have not spoken to a doctor, then you should do this as soon as you can. However, if your issue is more related to your lifestyle, then find a way to improve it. Avoiding coffee and alcohol later in the afternoon is one. Or simply just going to bed a little earlier.

An important and commonly overlooked factor of sleep disorder is your bedroom setup. Simple considerations such as changing the orientation of the bed or switching to a better mattress designed to support your body — such as Purple Mattress — can make a huge difference. So make sure to try these simple tips too!

Exercise

Exercising is one of the best things you can do for your body and mind. It has a wide range of benefits associated with it. First, it can give you more energy as well as help you sleep better. It can also be a great way for you to be a role model for your children. However, more than that, exercise has a hugely beneficial psychological effect. By getting a sweat on, you increase the levels of serotonin and dopamine in your brain, and both of these chemicals are associated with your happiness. Indeed it is akin to a natural antidepressant. Also, when you exercise, endorphins are released, and this increases your ability to feel pleasure. Life is better when you exercise. Another great aspect of exercising is that it helps destroy the levels of cortisol in your body. Cortisol is the hormone that produces stress. Also, there is no doubt that exercising enough can improve your body shape and tone you up. So, that’s a great reason to get on that treadmill all on its own.

Your Diet

Most people have some kind of vice, and for a lot of people, it is bad food. Perhaps you have too much sweet stuff, like cakes and chocolate, or maybe your vice is going through the drive-through a few times a week. Although you do not have to completely eliminate the food you love, cutting it down and ensuring that good food outweighs the bad is where you should aim. Next time you go to the supermarket, resist putting much of your usual food into the trolley. Instead, consume fruit and vegetables and minimize all the bad foods. If you can avoid having bad food at home, you will find it far easier to develop better eating habits.
