Drink more water

Sometimes, when you think you feel hungry, it is actually your body sending you signals that you feel thirsty. So, by staying hydrated, there is every chance that you will start to feel less hungry, and more healthy, more often, especially since a glass of water will also help to fill you up between meals too.

Eat more protein

If you always end up feeling hungry a couple of hours after your last meal, are you eating enough protein? Protein is much more satisfying than carbs, so if you get enough of it, you are much less likely to feel those hunger pangs so soon after eating. If you can’t get enough protein into your diet naturally, protein powder is a good solution as you can drink it in a shake at any time, and it will keep you full without adding too many calories. It will also help your body to build muscle more effectively if that is something you are interested in.

Increase your fiber intake

When you’re looking to lose weight without feeling hungry all the time, fiber really is your best friend. The thing you need to know about fiber is that it thickens up when mixed with liquids, which means, it will really help to make you feel full, even if you only have a small serving. Not only that. But fiber is one of the best things for keeping you regular, which means you will feel much less sluggish and therefore less likely to crave a sugary snack between meals.

Get a Hobby

Often, people tend to feel hungry when they are bored, so it stands to reason that, if you take up a hobby that is interesting to you, and which keeps your mind occupied for long stretches of time, you won’t even think about food once, and you will be less likely to succumb to temptation as a result. Try reading, painting, sewing, or anything that sounds interesting to you.

Skip the soup

There is some interesting research to suggest that solid foods are better at telling your brain that you are full than liquid foods, which means that things like soup end up being less satisfying and you are more likely to feel hungry sooner if you eat liquid foods than if you consume solid once. That doesn’t mean you should never eat soup again, but maybe eat it with a side of bread or some crunchy veggies to trick your brain into being more satisfied if you do.

Use a smaller plate

If you use a smaller plate for your meals, not only will you eat less in the first place because you will be limited to how much food will fit, but you will feel fuller for longer because you will be tricking your brain into thinking there is more food than there actually is. A large plate can dwarf the food on it, but a small will make it appear more voluminous, and this really can fool your brain!

Eat mindfully

It takes your body around 20 minutes to feel full when eating, so if you scarf down your food in a matter of moments, you are always going to end up feeling hungry again in no time at all.

This is where mindful eating comes in. When you eat mindfully, you slow right down and savor your food, taking in the smells, textures, tastes, and even sounds that the food makes while you are eating. This enables your body to be satisfied without you overconsuming and once you’ve practiced it for a few days, it will become second nature to you.

Exercise

Some studies have shown that exercise reduces cravings, so by being active every day, you can stop yourself from feeling so hungry. Just remember that if you exercise a lot, eating a little more may be necessary otherwise you could end up depriving yourself and bingeing later.

As you can see, there are so many things you can do to feel fuller for longer and keep that gnawing hunger at bay, so why not try one or two today?
