Ultimate Guide to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party

Disney has officially busted out the bells, decked the halls, and is fully immersed in the Holiday Spirit! Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party 2018 is in full swing, and I got the opportunity to go check it out recently during a Disney World media event. This is actually my second year attending the Disney Christmas Party, and from last year to this year, I have learned a few things that I feel can help out anyone who may be attending for the first time. So hold onto your ears, say cheers, and enjoy this ultimate guide to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.

Preparing For Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party

Before you set foot into the Magic Kingdom, there are a few things you can to to really improve your entire visit!

Know What To Expect

The biggest piece of advice I can give you, is to know what to expect from Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. This is a special ticketed event, so your regular park admission is not going to get you into this. On days the party is going on, guests with only regular admission will have to leave the park early as the party officially begins at 7 PM. There will be cast members checking for party wristbands, so no, there is no way to “sneak in”.

When you purchase your event ticket, you are able to enter the park as early as 4 PM. I highly advise that you enter as early as you are able to so you can enjoy some non party favorites, grab some food, and take some fun Christmas photos before it gets dark.

What To Bring To Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party

Want to have an epic time? Bring a few key things with you to really enhance your visit! I’m not going to go into the basics, like snacks, water, and stuff like that. These are basic things that you should bring to Disney really any time you go. I want to talk about the extras, the fun things, and the things that will maybe save you a little money at the same time!

Disney Bounding

I am obsessed with Disney Bounding! While adults can’t dress up in the way young kids can, we can get around this by bounding. You can put together some fun and festive outfits that channel your favorite Disney character. When I attended the party this year, I scooped up this really inexpensive Minnie Mouse style dress that was not only super cute but extremely comfortable as well. Oh, and did I mention that it has pockets! There is nothing I love more than a dress with pockets!

We’ve Got Ears!

I also highly recommend getting a pair of ears for your trip. Yes, you can buy them in the parks but if those are out of your budget, you can find some really inexpensive ones on Amazon. I personally collect Disney ears, but I like to get the inexpensive Amazon ones for my daughter to wear. That way I don’t feel soul crushing sadness if she happens to ruin a pair!

Glowing and Themed “Souvenirs”

Finally, I recommend you pick up a few inexpensive “souvenirs” before you head into the parks. There are many things I love buying in the parks and spending my money on ( Hello Disney coffee mug collection)… But a few things you can so purchase elsewhere and save some money! Anything that glows in the dark, go ahead and buy ahead of time, especially for your kids. These just burn out anyways so buying them at your local Dollar Store will save you some serious cash. You can also grab these super cute Christmas Bulb necklaces on Amazon that will add some serious flare to your party outfit.

What To Do During Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party 2018

When you first arrive to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, there are few things to know to make sure you have the most magical time and get to do everything that you want to do.

Grab A Party Guide

As much as I love the Disney phone app, when it comes to the special parties, the map and party guide are must haves! Pick one up in order to see where all of the special characters are, the party specials ( like the amazing kid friendly dance parties) and the times for all of the shows!  The app does not show all of this information, so if you want to make a real good game plan.

Christmas Characters

Probably my favorite thing about the MVMCP is being able to meet all of the Christmas themed characters! This is something I highly recommend you do and do early! The lines for these Characters get long fast, so if you make this one of your early “must dos” then you can get the ones you want out of the way and still have time to do the rest of the night time festivities!

Cookies, Snacks, and Hot Drinks Galore!

My next favorite, and a total must do is partaking in all of the delicious snacks! Throughout the park you will find some of the food stands with giant inflatable candy canes in front of them. These special stops will be handing out sweet treats all night long. If you want to see what is available at what stop, you can consult your handy dandy party map! Each stop has different snacks, from hot chocolate and peppermint cookies to  shaved ice and eggnog.

All The Shows

There are so many fun shows and things to see during this event. While not a “show” my daughter absolutely loved the dance party and club Tinsel! Kids get to dance with their favorite characters ( Vamprina made a special appearance) and parents can just watch and chill for a moment.

The parade is another one you won’t want to miss! So many fun character appearances, and the final float with the big jolly Santa himself is sure to make every kids light up wit joy!

As you can tell, there is SO much to do at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party! This is only the tip of the iceberg! If you can attend, I would highly recommend it. It is fun for the young and the young at heart, and one of my favorite events every year!

So I have a few questions and I apologize if this is stupid but my first one is this. Is the MVMCP in Orlando or Anaheim or both? I assume you are talking about Orlando only because I am in New Orleans and I just immediately think that first but I have 2 god daughters that live in San Diego and I was wondering if they do it in SoCal as well because if so, I may send them to the Party! 2nd, you mention about the snacks throughout the park, I assume that these are NOT free?!?! When reading about it, it sounds like they hand them out but I don't know if that is part of your ticket entry price or that is all a la carte. Lastly this isn't a question but being from NOLA we love beads so therefore I love those Christmas lights beads you had! Darcee my fiancé would LOVE those for Christmas so I need to get some for her! Great find!

HEy! Yes, they do the party at both parks but I attend the one in Orlando since I live in Florida. The snacks they hand out, cookies, hot chocolate, ect ARE free ( well included with admission) you don't pay any extra for those. You go to the points and they hand out cookies and drinks! And can I say, I have been wanting to go to NOLA! This is one of the places my husband and I are talking ab out checking out as soon as the kids are a bit older and we can leave them with a sitter for longer lol
