Mom’s Sick Day + Detox Tea Recipe To Kick A Cold Fast

It sucks being a sick mom! Feel better sooner with this Detox Tea Recipe to help you kick the cold quickly and get back to mom life.

Oh man has it been a rough few weeks.  A while back, my entire family had the stomach flu. Then not long ago, my daughter ended up with Strep throat. Most recently, My husband and I came down with a mystery cold that stopped us both in our tracks once again! Being a mom, and being sick don’t really go well together. While my husband has sick days at work he can use, mom’s sick day usually consists of still trying to maintain the home and kids just at a slower pace with a grumpier outlook. This time around I was determined to kick the cold with the quickness though, and with some insight from my father-in-law, I discovered this amazing detox tea recipe!

Mom's Sick Day + Detox Tea Recipe To Kick Colds FAST

Mom’s Sick Day Sucks…

I know what you are thinking, detox teas don’t work, well this isn’t really a detox tea like you may be thinking. It is a bunch of good-for-you ingredients, steeped in hot water, and drank rapidly before taking a soul-warming detox bath! I swear, it cut down on my downtime and I will be using this every time I am sick from now on.

Honestly, I was a bit skeptical at first. My father-in-law is the one who told me to try this recipe. He claimed that when he was sick it knock the cold right out of him! I believed him and decided to give it a try for myself. Thank God I did too because after drinking the “tea” and taking the bath, I felt a world better already! The next day, I could tell there was a huge improvement in how I felt. Now, that could just be a coincidence, but I like to think the bath and tea helped a little bit.

How to Make a Cold Detox Tea

So, full disclosure, this isn’t really tea. It is more like hot water, lemon, cayenne pepper, and honey. Sound gross? That’s because it kind of is. I will always be honest with you here, this tastes horrible, but if you can get it down it helps with a cold so much!

First, you want to warm up some water. It doesn’t need to be super hot but as hot as you can stand to drink it. You can add in ginger to the hot water and let it steep for a while. I did not have any ginger on hand, so I did not do that. Maybe the ginger would make it taste better.

Then you want to add in a few shakes of cayenne pepper, squeeze in half a lemon, and about a spoonful of real honey. Once you have it all mixed up, drink your concoction! It helps to drink it as fast as you can.

At-Home Cold Detox Bath

Once you have chugged your drink, you may already be starting to sweat. Now you are going to want to get into a hot bath. As hot as you can stand it! Add Epsom salts and Peroxide to the tub and just soak for about 20 minutes. If you want, you can add in any essential oils that you want. My stash had run out so I made do with just the Epsom salts and peroxide.

This bath will make you sweat even more! I seriously got out of the tub not really feeling all that clean, which was strange.

The Next Day

The next day, I felt so much better! I was able to get up and do things around the house and not feel like I was hit by a train! That may be just a coincidence, or the tea bath combo may have actually cut down on Mom’s sick daytime! Either way, it won’t hurt ( other than the taste) so if you are down with the funk, try this tea and bath and it may just make you feel better!

I kind of enjoy the taste haha. I did use lots of raw ginger though and judging by the color of your take on it you can stand a bit more cayenne than me 😋Thanks for the recipe
