Get Your Fierce New Look And Spread Some Love
If you have been around these parts for any amount of time, you know how much I love good savings. I rarely pay full price for anything, especially clothes for myself! You will also know that my love for thrifting, especially from Thredup.com runs deep! I have spoken about them in the past, and y’all, they just keep getting better! This year for International Women’s Day, Thredup will be launching a new Shop Her Closet campaign! This campaign will allow shoppers to browse through the “closets” of their top 30 regular contributors to the site. If that wasn’t exciting enough, Starting on the 6th, they will be donating 100% of the proceeds from the shop her closet campaign to the charity Girl’s Inc.
This is an amazing way to get yourself a fierce new look and help out an amazing cause!
Be Fierce, Be Unique, Be You
As a mother to a young girl, I especially love the chosen charity, Girl’s Inc. It is so important to empower our young girls and teach them to be strong and independent women. I was raised by a strong, single mother and this has helped shape me into the woman I am today. Just seeing the progress that women have made over the last few decades is astounding to me! We have worked, fought, and done everything we can to gain equality and power. It is a beautiful thing.
To me, International Women’s Day is a day where we celebrate our achievements and how far we have come. Being a work from home mom, I can see that I am afforded opportunities now that I never would have had in the past. I was able to get an education at a wonderful school. Work as a paralegal. I have a Master’s Degree in Legal Studies. I am a mom to two amazing children and I never have to wonder if my daughter will be afforded the same opportunities as a man.
We have come so far together, and it is important that we continue to star strong together in this fight. Sadly, I see so much of the ” mommy wars” and women vs women, and that isn’t the way life should be. Though we may be different in our lifestyle choices, we should be uplifting and empowering one another instead of dragging each other down.
So on International Women’s Day, I encourage you to do something that may be out of your comfort zone. Go up to another woman, one you don’t know, a stranger in the grocery store, or an old friend you haven’t spoken to in years. Then I want you to give that woman a compliment. Tell her that her shoes are nice. Her hair looks great. You love her bag. Be genuine in your compliment. I promise you, she will appreciate this more than you know. The smallest act of kindness can start a chain reaction. Your compliment can make her whole day! This is an easy way to encourage togetherness on International Women’s Day.
