We have probably all been there. Thinking we are done with the Christmas shopping. We have something for everyone on our list and the end is in sight. Then suddenly, we remember that random cousin who is coming into town, or the in-law who never shows up decides this is the year they are coming to Christmas. No matter if you need last minute gift ideas for last minute guests, or if you are simply just a procrastinator like I tend to be, this list has you covered!

Last Minute Gift Ideas
So this year, I have tried really hard to get all of my Christmas shopping done early. I scoured Cyber Monday deals and my daughter will be drowning in all of the My Little Pony goodness. Actually, I am quite proud of myself this year, because I am normally a terrible procrastinator. I am “that mom” who is out a few days before Christmas looking at empty shelves and praying my prime order comes in on time! So I know a thing or two about last minute gifts.
Even if you aren’t a procrastinator, sometimes last minute arrivals mean you need last minute gifts. Like when that cousin you never see decided they are coming to Christmas dinner with her 3 kids…yea , that is enough to put me into a panic mode. It is okay though, because there are loads of inexpensive and easy last minute gifts that you can pick up pretty much up until Christmas eve!
So my go to for last minute, inexpensive gifts has got to be the Dollar Tree. They have tons of toys and gifts this time of the year, and you can really get something for anyone on your list. This year I am doing coffee themed gift baskets for all of the grandparents, along with a DIY Christmas ornament.
I picked up some really cute Christmas coffee mugs, along with baskets, tissue paper, small packs of coffee, and even really cute biscottis all at the Dollar Tree. They even have Ornaments there that are specifically for DIY projects. Just grab a few things, arrange them nicely in the basket and viola! You have a perfectly inexpensive last minute gift. If the person isn’t a coffee drinker, you can easily substitute out some hot chocolate and marshmallows as well.
Dollar Tree also has a really large selection of books and coloring books. You may have to dig for books, but I found some really nice cookbooks this year that make perfect gifts. You can even pick up some Betty Crocker brand cooking utensils to toss in a stocking along side of the cookbook to really make this last minute gift look even more elaborate.
Seriously the sky is the limit with the Dollar Tree these days. All it takes is a few bucks and some crafty inspiration and you are well on your way to having some amazing last minute gifts.
Another place that I enjoy getting last minute gift ideas is Amazon. I am a prime member, so that 2 day shipping is life! Now this time of the year, shipping may take a bit longer but they work very hard to get everything out before Christmas. With just a few days notice, I can order some really fun gifts prime right to my door!
Another thing that I love about shopping Amazon for last minute gifts, is that you can have them shipped right to the person you are gifting. While they may not get these gifts on Christmas day per say, they will receive a nice package right to their doorstep in the following days. The best part? You won’t even have to wrap them!
Create a Gift Stockpile
While this probably won’t be much help right now, it can be such a huge help in the future. This isn’t just for Christmas either, these gifts would be perfect for birthday parties and other events that require you to bring something. I like to stock up on clearance items and Dollar Tree items throughout the year and keep them in a big tote in my closet.
Once you have a gifting stockpile, you can simply reach in and grab an appropriate gift for any last minute event you need to attend. This has seriously been a game changer for me. Oh, my daughter was invited to a birthday party? No problem! I will just grab a quick toy I grabbed on clearance 6 months ago, wrap it, and we are golden! Last minute kids showing up to your Holiday party? No biggie! Just get out some of those coloring books and crayons you got on sale during back to school and put them in a stocking!
What Do You Do?
While I have tried very hard to curb my procrastinating ways, sometimes the inevitable and unexpected just happens. Now that you know my tips and what I like to do, I would love to hear from you. What are your last minute gift ideas? Do you have a gifting stockpile?
