Christmas traditions are so much fun. Now that my daughter is getting older, she really looks forward to Christmas and all of the fun experiences that the Holiday entails. One of our favorite traditions that we have started is the Christmas Eve box. Every year on Christmas Eve, I let the kids open one gift specifically for that night. It has turned into something that they my oldest really looks forward to.

Christmas Eve Box
We started doing our Christmas Eve box tradition a few years ago. Typically, we have a large family party on Christmas Eve, and then once everyone has gone home, the kids are allowed to open one gift. This gift is their special Christmas Eve Box. We like to put fun and useful items in this box, all Christmas themed of course. Nothing has to be expensive either. Most of the box is filled with items from my local Dollar Tree actually.
What’s In The Box?
If you want to see what I put in my daughter’s Christmas Eve box for this year, then check out the video above! It was really simple and inexpensive to put together. The best part about this tradition is that you can add in anything that you like and really customize it to your kid’s likes and needs.
First and foremost, I get brand new Christmas Pajamas for the box. The pajamas are one of the few things that don’t come from the Dollar Tree. Typically, I order them off of Amazon because they have so many fun options! The outfits below are the ones that I got for my kids this year.
I like to add in a Christmas book to the Christmas Eve box every year. You can find them on Amazon, or even at your local Dollar Tree. Once the kids open their box, we will read the book together as a family. It is a really fun way to give a gift that allows us to spend time together.
I also like to add in a Christmas themed coloring book as well. These come in really handy when we go on all of our Christmas outings the week following Christmas. They help entertain the kids when we are at other’s houses and coloring is always fun for the little ones.
Candy and Snacks
Candy and snacks, usually some popcorn, are pretty much a staple in the Christmas Eve box. The kids get a little special treat, and we usually eat them together while watching a Christmas movie before bed time. I also like to add in a cute cup and some hot chocolate for my daughter to enjoy as well.
Small Stuffed Toy
In the Christmas Eve box, I also like to add in a small Christmas themed stuffed toy for the kids. Usually a little snowman or elf that they can cuddle with while we read a book and watch a movie.
Speaking of movies, I see that most people include a Christmas movie in their boxes, but I actually don’t do this. The reason for this is because we don’t really watch DVDs. Since we have Netflix, it is rare that we purchase movies. Because of this, we will watch a Christmas movie from Netflix on Christmas even, but not make a purchase. I know a lot of people like to have a collection, but it just isn’t something that we do.
So not that you have seen my Christmas Eve box, I want to know what you do on Christmas Eve to make the night special!
