The Holidays are officially upon us. The weather is cooling down and traditions are ramping up all across the country. For us here in Florida, the weather doesn’t always cool down much, which can make the Holidays feel a lot less festive. In order to combat the winter heat, we have a few Florida Holiday traditions to help get us into the spirit. From decor to clothes, we try to make it feel as festive as possible to really get into that Holiday Spirit.
Florida Holiday Traditions
\As I am sure you know, Florida weather can be quite warm. This time of the year it goes from cold mornings, to hot afternoons, and back to cold nights. While the heat does make it nice for spending time outside, it also can make it not feel very much like the Holidays. We don’t get the changing trees in fall, or the snowfall in winter, so we have to use out Florida Holiday traditions in order to get ourselves into the Holiday spirit.
Something the kids and I love to do in order to get into the Holiday spirit is to get crafty. Typically we hit up our local Dollar Tree, stock up on crafting supplies and Christmas decorations and spend a whole day making fun crafts. Now, I am not a very crafty mom, but that doesn’t really matter. These don’t have to be Pinterest perfect. What matters is enjoying time with the family and having fun with all the seasonal decor. Some of our favorite crafts are making ornaments, decorating coffee mugs, and making personalized gift baskets.
Decorate The House
The one thing that can always make it feel like the Holidays even when it is 80 degrees outside is a beautifully decorated interior. We like to try to wait until after Thanksgiving to start Christmas decorating, but it usually doesn’t work out. This year, my daughter is really into helping out with the decorating, so we put on some Christmas music, make some hot chocolate, and get to decorating. The decor isn’t magazine perfect, but it is perfect to us.
Dress For The Occasion
Dressing for the occasion is one way to really enjoy the Holiday season. As I mentioned earlier, it is cold in the mornings, hot in the afternoon, and cold again at night, so layers are key. Every year we get new winter clothes for the kids, but also don’t want to spend a ton of money on them either. We are always able to pick up great clothes for amazing prices at OshKosh though. With fabulous fleece jackets, adorable graphic t’s, and wonderful onesies, you would be hard pressed to find better deals and more variety.
This year you can get this fabulous kids fashion at a deep discount. Using the coupon below, you can get 20% off of your purchase of $40 or more both in stores or online.
