Ah kids, always bored and always hungry. No matter how many times you feed them, they still want a snack. Even with a million toys, they are still bored. You see, what they really desire is stimulus. They want something to do, and you to do it with them. It isn’t all about the stuff, it is about the time. One thing my daughter and I love to do is have a perfect backyard picnic complete with snacks, activities, and quality time together. You can easily plan your own perfect backyard picnic with just a few simple steps!

Planning The Perfect Backyard Picnic
The beauty of a backyard picnic, is not only is it fun but it is easy. If you are anything like me, you have no desire to over complicate things. Simple is best. In planning the perfect backyard picnic, simple is something to always keep in mind. From the snacks to activities, you won’t need anything extravagant in order for you and your child(ren) to have the best experience.
The Snacks
What is a picnic without snacks? Even though we are only going into the back yard, the snacks need to be on point. I like to get my daughter involved with the basket packing process in order for it to be more enjoyable for her.
Finger foods and sandwiches are always picnic staples. In our basket this time, we packed some crackers, cheese and pepperoni along with carrots, and my daughter’s favorite Stonyfield® Organic YoKids® yogurt. She loves the taste, and I love that it is GMO free, has no high fructose corn syrup, and has 25-40% less sugar than other brands (YoKids® Pouches formula is still in transition to have lower sugar).
Stonyfield® Organic YoKids® yogurt is also available in many varieties. There are pouches, regular yogurt cups, tubes, and even smoothies. The pouches are perfect for on the go snacking, and fit really well in any picnic basket. Because they are USDA certified organic, you don’t have to worry about what you are feeding your little one, because there will never be any toxic pesticides, hormones, or antibiotics present. You can learn more about Stonyfield® Organic YoKids® yogurt right here.
Activities
Now that you have your snacks packed, it is time to plan out some perfect backyard picnic activities. One thing my daughter and I love to do is to bring a book and read together. There is something calming and nice about reading outside.
It is also a wonderful time to simply just talk. I feel like too often do we want to load down our kids with activities and things to do that we forget to just slow down and enjoy a good conversation. We like to sit and eat our snacks while talking about anything and everything. Granted she is 4, so most of our conversations revolve around unicorns and preschool, but one day these will make for great memories.
Perfect Backyard Picnic
See, there are only a few things that you need to do to have a perfect backyard picnic. Just some snacks, a book, and some time. So, what are you waiting for? Go get your kids some Stonyfield® Organic YoKids® yogurt, pack a basket, and get outside! You see, simple really is the best.

Kids are easy to please if you really want to. I think a picnic would be a nice way to spend some one on one time with them. These snacks are pretty awesome!
I would love to set something like this up for my youngest. She’s totally game when I suggest an activity for us to do. This is such a lovely idea that won’t even cost us anything.

My daughter loves back yard picnics with fun activities as well. Thankfully the weather is cooling off in Florida which means that having a picnic is finally reasonable.

I love the idea of a backyard picnic in the fall and winter. Right during the warmest bit of the day, in the warm sun, under a tree. Although, I have two under two, so there won’t be a lot of sitting. Unless they’re eating. You know what’s perfect to add for a fall picnic is pears. Pears are delicious this time of year. Thaks for a sweet post!

🙂 we spend a lot of time in our back yard
This makes me miss my childhood when I actually had a backyard. I’ve lived in a city my entire adult life. But I once and a while do go on picnics and they are always fun.

The perfect backyard picnic revolves around having the right company (mostly my hubs). A comfy blanket doesn’t hurt though!

This is a wonderful idea!!! I have never tried it honestly with the kids, but why not. Maybe we can incorporate a backyard sleepover. As for the snacks, yes, my two little ones love this yogurt as well, and a very easy snack for them to have after school.
