So by now everyone knows I love to save money. I am as frugal as they come and try to save in any way that I can. Over the years, one of my favorite ways to save has been to save money with Amazon Prime. I have been a member for many years, and it has really been a blessing to me. Getting what I need shipped to my door in two days? Yes please! There have been times in my life when money has been extremely tight, and even in those times Amazon Prime has been a fantastic way to save on necessities.
Save Money With Amazon Prime
In a time not so long ago, my family was struggling. I had just given birth to my daughter. My husband was working a job making barely above minimum wage, and I was a full time student with no real employment. To say that things were tight was an understatement. It was during this time that we were lucky enough to receive food assistance. The services that we were able to get got us through this difficult time.
I was also able to use the fact that I was a student, to get a discount on an Amazon Prime membership. This is where I was able to purchase all of my diapers and wipes at much less than they would be at my local store. Amazon Prime was great for us, and it is great for so many people as well.
Now, Amazon has released that they will be giving discounted memberships to any individual who has a valid Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card. This is a game changer and has the ability to help so many families. From groceries with Amazon Pantry to diapers and baby products, more families will be able to save on necessities than ever before.
What Is Amazon Prime?
Amazon is one of the largest retailers around, and their Prime membership can’t be beat. When you sign up for Amazon Prime, you get access to free two day shipping and so much more!
One of the ways I have saved a ton of money recently is by ditching cable. If this is something that you want to do, you can still watch TV and movies with your Amazon Prime membership. You get free access to tens of thousands of TV shows and movies.
Amazon Prime also offers a plethora of other included services such as Prime Reading, Kindle First, Prime Photos, Prime Music, and more! Seriously, you get so much bang for your buck with Amazon. I personally love the Prime Reading because who wouldn’t love free E-books?
Amazon Prime EBT Discount
As I mentioned earlier, Amazon is now giving discount on their regular memberships to those with valid EBT cards. I think this is just wonderful. As someone who used to receive these benefits, I know the benefit this can be to families who need it. The access to exclusive discounts and free E-books are invaluable when you are trying to make it through to another paycheck.
With this discount, Prime will only be $5.99 a month. This can be cancelled at any time and there is no annual contract! Members are eligible to apply for this every year up to four different times. Amazon is also working ways to qualify members in the future who receive government assistance yet do not utilize EBT.
This discounted membership is exactly the same as the regular membership with all the bells and whistles included. There is even a 30 day free trial that anyone can take advantage of.
So if you are one of the millions of people out there on EBT, don’t be ashamed for one and two, go get your discounted Amazon Prime and save money with Amazon Prime for your family.
